Preparing children for a lifetime of learning
“Since the jobs that our preschoolers will do probably don’t exist yet, our priority is to teach them the skills to adapt and inquire and question and cooperate…life skills. So much more useful than rigid concepts such as the alphabet.”
~ Caroline Bellouse
Our vision is to develop a love of learning, seeds of faith and a readiness for life in every child attending our preschool.
We aim to do this by:
Creating inspiring environments and experiences to engage the learning and development of children, along with preparing them for their transition to school;
Partnering with families as children’s most influential role models;
Recognising and strengthening the value and professionalism of our staff team;
Managing the financial viability, compliance and legislative requirements through sound governance procedures; and
Establishing community connections to strengthen and support our practices.
Our Commitment
to Child Safety
At HopePoint Preschool we believe that every child has the right to be safe and to have their needs met at all times. It is our endeavour to ensure that we are a Child Safe Organisation in all that we say and do. The leadership and team of HopePoint Preschool take a zero tolerance approach to child abuse, and actively promote that child safety requires a collaborative approach.
In practice this is more than just having policies and procedures, though important, to protect the children in our care and advocate for their wellbeing. As such we commit to undertake the following:
We take the time to listen to the children and to use their ideas and questions to inform what we do, including with respect to their safety and wellbeing.
We also work with families to ensure they understand the importance of child safety and how they can best meet the wellbeing needs of their child.
As Mandatory Reporters, our team receive training in child safety and also lead protective behaviours learning with the children on an annual basis.
Child Safety is an ongoing focus at the leadership level and is an item of discussion at all Committee and Team meetings.
Our employment processes are robust and always use tools such as scenario based questioning, reference checks, and completion of the Working With Children Check for all staff, Committee Members, parent volunteers and other professionals working with children in the preschool.
But Jesus called for the children, saying, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
— Luke 18:16 (NET)
